Vengaboys first No 1 back in 1999

Vengaboys first No 1 back in 1999

In June 1999, Dutch pop purveyors Vengaboys scored their first Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart with Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom!!
The Eurodance banger debuted in the top spot to push the previous week's Number 1, S Club 7's iconic debut single Bring It All Back, down to Number 2.
Interestingly, Vengaboys' thumping Eurodance banger has two very familiar names on its songwriting credits: Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson. That's because the first verse of Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom! interpolates ABBA's 1981 hit Lay All Your Love on Me.

Eurovision Winner Flashback - Carola

Eurovision Winner Flashback - Carola

1974 ABBA  - Waterloo
1984 Herreys - Diggi Loo Diggi Ley

The Artist with most UK Number 1 singles

The artist with the most Number 1 singles in the UK ever is the King of Rock'n'Roll himself, Elvis Presley!

He racked up 21 Number 1 singles between All Shook Up in July 1957, to the reissue of It's Now or Never in February 2005. And today Ed Sheeran moved slightly closer to reaching Elvis' chart history heights as his new single Eyes closed reach the very top the first week on the list.
Here is Elvis very first No 1 hit

ABBA Ring Ring 50th Anniversal

By Kingpin, 2023-03-26
ABBA Ring Ring 50th Anniversal

ABBA announce the very special re-issue of their debut album, Ring Ring, to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Originally released when ABBA weren't even ABBA - just a band under the name Bjorn, Benny, Agnetha & Frida - Ring Ring was first issued as an LP on 26 March 1973, and saw the somewhat muted start to the career of a band that would go on to define the sound, look and feel of pop music.

But the huge success of Ring Ring in the band's native Sweden - where both the Swedish and English versions of the title track charted at Number 1 and 2 respectively at the same time (!) - was enough to convince Agnetha and Anna-Frid to pause their solo careers. And ABBA was born.

To celebrate the momentous five decades since ABBA first made their first, tentative steps in the music business, Ring Ring is being re-issued with a special new Deluxe edition, with all its track remastered at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London.
